ARTIFACT: This is a USS Pastores AF-16 (stores ship) Assistant M.A.A. (master at arms) badge circa 1943. The Pastores started out life as a merchant ship built at Belfast. She was acquired for a short time by the United States Navy from the United Fruit Company during World War I, and then again in 1942. Pastores won one battle star for her second bout of service. The badge is in silver-plated white metal with a great three-dimensional star at its center and is numbered 4.

VINTAGE: Circa 1943.

SIZE: Approximately 2-9/16" in height and 1-11/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver-plated white metal with painted lettering.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin on bar with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: PAT. PEND number on bar.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows some small areas of light wear and tarnish.
