ARTIFACT: NEW INFO: this jacket published in SUIT UP! THE FLIGHT JACKET. On Hold briefly for further research; now available for purchase! When listed last week there was some confusion of the jacket being in print, as it was thought there was a similar jacket published in Conway & Maguire's Art of the Flight Jacket. But more importantly, this EXACT jacket is actually published in the 1993 Classic Japanese Flight Jacket Book: Suit Up! The Flight Jacket on page 211! Just a gorgeous World War II United States Army Air Forces A-2 flight jacket with zero apologies, with both the Bomb Squadron (31st) and Bomb Group (5th) directly painted on front of the jacket, along with the Pilot's Wing, name, and nickname. On back is a simple but poignant B-24 :Liberator with what may be the aircraft's name (or the pilot's nickname??) underneath: "LIL MIKE". AAF Nomenclature tag and size tag present and fully readable (see below for exact markings). Conmar Zipper working perfectly, as do all snaps and hooks. Fresh out of an old collection! ZERO APOLOGIES: a stunner!! An excellent addition to any serious flight jacket collection!

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Size 40 (large). Approximately 20" armpit to armpit, 25" from shoulder seam to end of cuff, 16-1/2" across back shoulder to shoulder and about 24" from base of collar to hem.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted leather with cotton lining.

ATTACHMENT: Zipper, snaps on pockets, snap and hook and eye at throat.

MARKINGS: Label: TYPE A-2 DRAWING NO. 30-1415 A.A.F. CONTRACT NO. W535-AC-27753 PROPERTY AIR FORCES, U.S. ARMY 40; zipper: CONMAR.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-PJC-VCHJJX13 LDEJJX4/13 SCHJJX12/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): No explanations and no apologies: light scuffing and wear to the original finish, excellent liner, no unpleasant odors. Webbing original and in excellent condition with only very minor wear/nips.
