ARTIFACT: This is a World War II United States Navy captain's aviation greens and deck cap in large sizes. The jacket has a nice bullion wing on the breast. The hat is in fabulous shape with a great eagle badge and golden leaves on the visor. It cannot be proven beyond a doubt, but the most likely this uniform belonged to Captain Lewis Keith Marshall. Captain Marshall was a native of Massachusetts (this uniform came from ME, where he retired), who was WWI Naval Aviator # 384, seeing service overseas in Moutchic, L'Aber Vrach, and Brest, and then a LCDR through Captain in WWII.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Jacket: size 44L; pants: inseam 35"; hat: size 7 1/4.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Jacket: wool, silk lining, wing embroidered in bullion thread, brass buttons; pants: wool, muslin pocket lining, resin buttons, metal zipper; hat: wool, leather liner, elasticized cotton, plated brass, silk, cellophane, vinyl.

ATTACHMENT: Jacket: buttons; pants: zipper with button.

MARKINGS: UNION MADE GARMENT 606143 SERIES GD AMALGAMATED CLOTHING WORKERS OF AMERICA tag in jacket; MARSHALL written inside pants; ART CAPS MILITARY HEADWEAR NEW YORK in hat and 7 ¼ on hat label.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The uniform is in wonderful shape with few signs of wear except for some staining under the arms of the jacket (on lining but does not go through to outside).
