ARTIFACT: This is a copy of "778 AAA AW BN (SP): From Activation to Victory", a World War II unit history of the United States Army's 778th Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion (Self-Propelled). Arriving in the European Theatre relatively late (December 1944), the 778th saw its first combat at Bastogne, Belgium, an engagement which became part the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to the battalion's history, this book includes an impressive list of honor recipients and a roster, and has some color illustrations as well as a very large color fold-out map of the 778th's route through Europe from Liverpool, England to Munich, Germany. This history was published at this final destination. The cover has seen better days but has a great watercolor battle scene.

VINTAGE: Circa 1945-1946 (World War II or just after).

SIZE: 121 pages (including color and black and white illustrations) plus a few blank autograph pages at the end; approximately 11-3/4" in height and 8" in width and ½" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Paperboard cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: Printed by F. Bruckmann KG., Munich, Germany.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army unit history collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. LAFEX9/13 SAFEX8/16

CONDITION: 5+ (Fine-): The book has lost its spine covering and has some separation just inside cover but is still intact; endpages have spots of discoloration; tears through first two pages.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
