ARTIFACT: This is a World War II submarine launch tag for the USS Threadfin SS-410, launched from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on June 26, 1944. Threadfin earned her three battle stars for World War II service during an equal number of war patrols. This launch tag shows light, inked writing on the reverse, looks to read: "2/6 Junk 449" (see photo).

VINTAGE: Circa 1944.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/16" in height (excluding 3-5/8" of string) and 1-3/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Foiled card stock with silk string.

ATTACHMENT: Punched hole with string.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. LBHX7/11 S(1)BHX8/16

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The tag has some light wear, and the the reverse shows ink marks, overall very fine condition.
