ARTIFACT: This is a World War II submarine launch tag for the USS Sarda SS-488, which was launched on August 24, 1945 at Portsmouth (NH) Naval Shipyard. Sarda did not serve during World War II as the war ended a few weeks before her launching. She was commissioned the following year, and captained by the son of the famed Admiral Chester W. Nimitz.

VINTAGE: Circa 1945.

SIZE: About 1-3/4 in width by 2-1/8" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Foiled card stock.

ATTACHMENT: Silk string.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): This tag has some creasing on top, and the tag you receive will either be this one or one in very similar condition.
