ARTIFACT: This is a very rare example of a very famous and desirable Italian squadron badge for the 205th Squadriglia (Squadron), also known as the "Sorci Verde". The squadron's aircraft, some of which were used in competitive racing, were all emblazoned with three green mice. This bomb squadron was formed in October 1936 and flew the famous Savoia-Marchetti S.M.79 trimotor. They first became recognized for a series of public relations flights around the world in the late 1930s. One of its most well-known members was Bruno Mussolini, son of Il Duce. During World War II the 205th went on many bombing patrols in Europe.

VINTAGE: Circa early World War II.

SIZE: About 1" wide by 1/2" high.
