ARTIFACT: This is a World War I St. John Ambulance Association ambulance driver hat badge Type II. The type II version has the Rd. ("Registered") number on the reverse. The British organization has links to the age-old Order of St. John.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Two loops with cotter pin.

MARKINGS: Rd. No. 111901.

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The badge shows some moderate wear and tarnish and has some small areas of oxidation.
