ARTIFACT:
This is a Wonderful Title "Stock" Acting Deputy Sheriff 6-point Star badge 1870's - 1880's by S.G. Adams St Louis Old West.
Early nickeled brass S.G. Adams were well known for the finish peeling, not sure why they used brass at all, should have stuck to nickel.
In any event, a solid Old West badge, with an incredibly rare title, that will make you forget about finish peeling the minute you have it in hand... You will just wish it could tell us story...
VINTAGE:
1870s - 1880s.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-5/8" in height x 2-1/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.

CONDITION:
5 (Very Good - Fine): This badge would grade a solid 7 or maybe even a 7+, except for the great deal of peeling of the nickel plating on the front of the badge...S.G. Adams badge were well known for this if they were made of brass, not sure why they used that, should have stuck to nickel.
