ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful textbook example of a 1923 South African Air Force (SAAF) pilot wing. The wing is South African-made and is slightly padded. The crest at the center of the wing has four quadrants and is the coat of arms formerly used on the South African national flag.

VINTAGE: Circa 1923.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" in height and 4-5/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool felt with cotton/silk embroidery, treated muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a 1920s Great Britain and Commonwealth Air Force wing collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months.  CON-JST-20-14 LGGEX1/14 SLGJJX7/15 SRET06/23

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The wing shows some light to medium wear.
