ARTIFACT:
This beautiful EARLY War Kriegsmarine Minesweeper Badge in Silvered and (Once) Gilt Brass shows wonderful wear and patina. Produced by Schwerin, it is of the highest quality.
The Badge was obviously worn long and hard by the original owner, who must have broken the pinback along the way, and when he, or an engineer on the ship, repaired the badge, he modified the original Hinge into a CATCH and mounted a new Hinge and Pin UPSIDE DOWN to utilize the New "Catch". Wild, I've never seen a repair quite like it! It looks to have been worn a good long time after the repair was completed as well! There are some marks on the back of the broad coke-bottle type pin, but they are hard to make out: an F and then 2 or 3 numbers.
A wonderful addition to any Nazi Kriegsmarine Badge Collection, especially for someone who has them all.
VINTAGE:
Early World War II.

Approximately 2-1/8" in height x 1-3/4" in width.
