ARTIFACT:
Wonderful, late 1940's United States Army 511th Airborne Oval. The center features an embroidered wing surrounded by a wide, olive green border and a thin white border variant and is embroidered on blue Japanese silk, backed with twill. After the Japanese surrender, the 511th was stationed in Morioka, Japan during the start of the occupation of Iwate and Aomori Prefectures and remained there until 1949 when the battalions strategically departed for the United States. The photo of the three ovals is included in the listing for easy comparison of the variants offered, see links below for additional 511th Airborne artifacts from the Japanese Occupation period.
