ARTIFACT: Wonderful, early 1945 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division souvenir buckle named to Delbert Rupard and made in the Philippines. During WWII, the 5th Cavalry Division was stationed in the Pacific Theater and participated in the Lyte Invasion, Operation King II and the Luzon Campaign in the Philippines. The center of the painted brass buckle reads: "5TH REGT. 1ST CAV." against a background of green paint. The top reads: "DELBERT RUPARD" and along the bottom the buckle reads: "PHILIPPINES" with the 1st Cavalry insignia on either side and the year: "1945" in the center accented with red painted detail.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1945.

SIZE: Approximately 2" in length x 1-1/2" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cast and Painted brass.

ATTACHMENT: Loop/lug with slide bar, tension lock.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a US Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MDJX16 LBDEX3/16 SBBJX10/24

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The buckle shows moderate to heavy wear mostly to reverse, much of the painted details remain intact, overall handsome patina with a great been there look!
