ARTIFACT: Wonderful circa 1900 New York City newsboy badge with original insert and celluloid. The oval badge reads: "NEWSBOY REGISTERED BY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION THE CITY OF NEW YORK" in black detailed lettering. The original insert shows the City of New York's Board of Education seal in the center and surrounding is the name: "JULIUS DAVIDSOHN" and numbers "22 223" and the reverse also reads Julius Davidsohn, handwritten in ink.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" in height x 2-5/8" in length.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickeled brass, black paint, celluloid, paper, ink, brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with 'C' type catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a newspaper-related collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MAJJX16 LCDEX6/16 SCDEX02/23/23

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The badge shows minor to moderate wear, small cracks in the celluloid that do not detract much, much of the plated and painted details remain intact, overall nice patina.
