ARTIFACT: This is a very rare World War II United States of America Merchant Marine lapel badge given to merchant marines who had been aboard a torpedoed ship. The badge is a horizontal torpedo with a blue stripe along the top showing a "V" for Victory with the word "TORPEDOED" below, also in blue.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/8" in width by 3/16" in height..

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver with hard-fired blue enamel with sterling silver pin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.

MARKINGS: STERLING and faded mark showing that pin was made by a union, which was important to the merchant mariners, as they were all in unions.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Merchant Marine collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAGEX08 LCGEX2/11 TRCGE5/11

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The pin has some small areas of moderate wear and tarnish and the pin is slightly bent.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
