ARTIFACT: This is a very rare World War II CBI-made 9th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron, 10th Air Force, 14th Air Force. This USAAF squadron was in the India-Burma sector and attached to the 5306th Photo and Reconnaissance Group (provisional) and 8th Photo Group/8th Reconnaissance Group. The 9th was in that theatre from July 24, 1942 through the end of the war. The patch is a camera-toting cat riding a thunderbolt like a bronco with his flight helmet trailing out behind him. The clouds he is zooming by look almost like hibiscus blossoms.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 5-3/8 in height and 5" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered in cotton/silk threads; cotton piping edge.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEJX10 LHIEX12/10 SHJJX9/12

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): Patch shows some light wear and slight puckering along edge but all colors are close to original.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
