ARTIFACT: This is a distinctive insignia for the United States Army 87th Infantry Regiment. The DI shows a snow-capped mountain with a crossed ski pole and ice axe and a horseshoe in the foreground. The DI reads VIRES MONTESQUE VINCIMUS (we conquer mountains and men).

VINTAGE: Circa 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch (swivel part of catch is missing).

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAL90 LCFX10/11

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The DI shows only very light wear; swivel part of catch is missing.
