ARTIFACT:

What we have here is a unique circa 1900 Long Beach Township, Los Angeles County, Deputy Constable Badge # H88. Starting off extremely rare, what makes this badge unique is that the top panel, which might have started off reading "SPECIAL", was polished down, and "L. A. Co." (for Los Angeles County) was hand engraved on the panel! And it must have been done fairly close to when the badge was manufactured / issued, as the hand engraved lettering has the same jeweler's black in it as the rest of the hand-stamped lettering and numbering on the badge. A beautiful old, duty worn, badge, in a nice patinated brass, with 10-20% of the original gold wash still hanging on in the recesses of the badge.

A wonderful addition to any Long Beach or Los Angeles County Collection!

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately: 2-1/2" in height x 1-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold wash on brass and hand engraved lettering has the same jeweler's black in it as the rest of the hand-stamped lettering and numbering on the badge.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin with oval saddle.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES:  This is from a California Police and Law Enforcement Badge Collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. KEJJP24 LBDGEX07/29/24 SBBBGX09/27/24
