ARTIFACT: This is an uncommon early World War II United States Army Air Forces 152nd Observation Squadron distinctive insignia scarce Die Type III. Originally formed in 1939 as part of the Rhode Island National Guard, the squadron had a Rhode Island Red rooster mascot for a short time, eventually switching over to a cat. The DI is enameled in red, white and blue and shows the proud bird at center, who seems to have an extra tailfeather (this is actually just a small border area filled in with red rather than blue).

VINTAGE: Circa early World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Diagonal pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWII United States Army Air Forces DI collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VGX14 LAAEX8/14

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI has light wear only.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
