ARTIFACT:
This is a scarce hardcover copy of the "USS Independence (CVA-62) WestPac 1965" Cruisebook. Launched on June 6, 1958, the aircraft supercarrier Independence had a hand in the dŽtente of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and a few years later took a seven month voyage to the South China Seas. The book has several black and white and color photographs documenting the ship's travels to the Pacific. It was published in 1965.

360 pages with both black and white and color photographs and illustrations; approximately 12-1/4" in height and 9-5/8" in width and 1-3/8" in thickness.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Cloth-bound cover, thick textured paper.
ATTACHMENT:
Glued binding.
MARKINGS:
The 1965 Independence Cruisebook was designed and manufactured by Hallmark Graphics, Inc., a division of Hallmark Lithographers, Inc., Westbury, New York; Fred K. Mitchell 1966 written inside back cover; KINGSCRAFT maker mark stamped on reverse cover.
