ARTIFACT: This is a scarce, small size World War II USS Steelhead SS-280 launch badge. Steelhead was launched on September 11, 1942 from the Portsmouth (NH) Navy Yard. Steelhead received six battle stars for World War II service.

VINTAGE: Circa 1942.

SIZE: About 1-1/2" in diameter.

ITEM NOTE: This is the scarce smaller sized Steelhead launching button.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. LDJX SLEJX7/11
