ARTIFACT:
NOTE: All of these USN patches being listed on
consignment with consignor code CON-DSS come from the lifelong collection of a
retired Vietnam War USN Pilot who had close times with the Tailhook Association
and was able to obtain some very special and unique patches. We are proud to
have been given the opportunity to bring parts of this collection to market. We
will be listing 25 or so now, and hope to have another offering in April or
May.
What we have here is a Scarce mid-1950's US Navy VF-93 / VA-93 Flight Jacket Patch Embroidered on Wool Felt
This unit was established as the third VF-93 on 26 March 1952, then re-established VA-93 on 15 September 1956. It was disestablished on 31 August 1986.
The Squadron Insignia was approved for VF-93 on 14 April 1954 and worn for a short while by VA-93 until its usage was discontinued in 1957.
VINTAGE:
Mid 1950's.
SIZE:
Approximately: 4-7/8" in height x 4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Embroidered on Wool Felt with silk/cotton threads, gauze backing.
ATTACHMENT:
To be sewn onto Flight Clothing.
