ARTIFACT: This is a scarce Confederate Veterans badge from the 1913 Gettysburg Memorial reunion that marked the 50th anniversary of that pivotal battle. The celluloid medallion shows the bust of Robert E. Lee, famed Confederate leader, and a facsimile of his signature. This badge, along with the other items listed for sale separately at the bottom of the page, all came to us from the same unknown Confederate veteran.

VINTAGE: Circa 1913.

SIZE: Approximately 4-1/8" in height and 2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, celluloid, silk.

ATTACHMENT: Bar with horizontal safety-style pin, ribbon.

MARKINGS: THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J. on reverse of medallion.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge has some areas of light to medium wear and tarnish; minor soiling to the back of the ribbon.
