ARTIFACT:
Scarce 1960's New York State Department of Mental Hygiene Safety Services officer badge, well used by Bastian Bros. Co in Rochester, New York. The center of the badge shows the State Seal of New York and around it reads: "STATE OF NEW YORK". The top of the badge features an eagle with wings spread and head bowed with "OFFICER" just below. The body of the badge is starburst-like shaped and the outer blue enamel ring reads: "DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HYGIENE SAFETY SERVICES" and the very bottom shows the number: "517".
