ARTIFACT: This is a scarce circa 1941 (World War II) USS Drum SS-228 celluloid launch button/badge. Launched May 12, 1941 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Portsmouth, New Hampshire/Kittery, Maine), Drum earned 12 battle stars for her World War II service, and completed the same number of war patrols. She was decommissioned February 16, 1946.

VINTAGE: Circa 1941.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWII United States Navy launch badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEX14 LGEX5/14 SGEX12/05/23

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has light wear only.
