ARTIFACT: This is a scarce circa 1920's or 1930's American-made small size uniform button for the Haitian Constabulary (Gendarmerie) as worn by United States Marine Corps enlisted men. The United States occupied Haiti starting in 1915 to safeguard American business interests on the island and remained there long after the Paris Peace Treaty of 1919. The buttons have N. Meyer of New York maker marks on reverse.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920's-1930's.

SIZE: Approximately 5/8" in diameter; pin is about 1-1/16" in length.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Brass.

ATTACHMENT: Cotter pin.

MARKINGS: N.S. MEYER NEW YORK.
