ARTIFACT:
This is a rare hardcover copy of "Downwind: The Story of the 41st Troop Carrier Squadron, World War II". Known as the "Black Cats", the group was known as the 41st Transport Squadron until its redesignation in 1942. The 41st served in the Pacific Theatre, including in Australia, New Guinea and Japan, and took part in the Berlin Airlift after the war. The book has several interesting black and white photographs, both candid and action, and a black and white few illustrations. The book was published in 1950 and edited by David B. Weinshenbaum.
