ARTIFACT: Rare WWII United States Army Air Forces 23rd Fighter Group Distinctive Insignia (DI) Type 23-A-5. The smaller size DI shows the Group's emblem, a winged tiger with a lightning bolt behind it and a darker blue background – this example is almost purple! Great variation in this type.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Approximately 15/16" x 1-1/16"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled silver

ATTACHMENT: Hinged, safety style pin

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a USAAF collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-EDK-25-16 LHGEX8/16

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The DI shows mild to moderate wear, a small pin-hole 'blemish' in the top corner appears to have occurred during manufacture, three small sections of enamel in the tail are lost (does not detract), overall very fine condition.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
