ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa World War II Exhaust Shop maintenance worker badge for ELCO (Electric Boat Company) of Bayonne, New Jersey. Begun in 1892, ELCO manufactured several types of boats, including yachts, power boats and PT (patrol torpedo) boats for the United States Coast Guard and Navy. The badge is by Whitehead & Hoag, and is numbered 9335.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated brass, painted lettering, celluloid, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in locking catch.

MARKINGS: WHITEHEAD-HOAG NEWARK, N.J. PAT. APPL'D FOR.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a war worker collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VDJX12 LAFEX10/12

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The badge has a few very small spots of oxidation.
