ARTIFACT:
This Rare WWI Imperial Prussian Naval Land Pilot Badge is made by the Tiffany of Germany: Godet, and is interestingly engraved on front: Kriegs - Verdienst , or War - Service.
The pin has the "Star" mark attributed to Godet for the firm's non-precious metal pieces, and it also looks as though it might have been slightly elongated during the period of wear. Possibly even by Godet, as the beveled edges of the lower portion match exactly with the upper portion.
The badge is in gilt brass with moderate wear, and measures approximately 2-7/8" in height x 1-13/16' in width.
This badge is published: Baldes Page 452, Previtera pages 170 - 174, and Pandis Page 51, with the best information being in the Baldes book.
