ARTIFACT: This is a rare unit history of the United States Army Air Forces 8th Reconnaissance Group ("8th Reconnaissance Group: Activities, January 1 through June 30, 1945"). Constituted in 1943, the 8th was originally designated as the 8th Photo Reconnaissance Group, and a part of the 10th Air Force. The 8th gathered intelligence, largely through aerial photography, to support tactical units throughout out the China-Burma-India theatre. The book is oversized and was printed in-theatre. The book's first page is a tribute to the 27 men of the 8th who died within the brief six-month window dealt with in the history.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: 32 pages with black and white photographs; approximately 14" in height and 10" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Printed paper.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The book shows some light wear and aging with curling at the corners. Small, light stain to rear cover. No rips, stains or writing inside. Remnants of heavy black paper at each end of spine.
