ARTIFACT: This is a rare experimental Winchester bayonet for the Model 1895 Lee Navy rifle. The rifle was used by both the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps for twelve years after it came out in 1895, and Winchester Repeating Arms was the first company to receive a contract from the Navy.

VINTAGE: Circa 1895.

SIZE: Approximately 14" in length and 2-11/16" in width at widest part (sheathed).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, wood, leather.

ATTACHMENT: Looped leather with metal fastener.

MARKINGS: WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-DB-20-12 LBBEJX3/12 R10/12

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The bayonet has some light to moderate wear and abrasions; the sheath is quite worn in some areas and has a heavy tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
