ARTIFACT: This is a Rare, Early Civil War Veteran's Reunion Ribbon from the Wild West: Topeka, Kansas in 1882! USS Monitor on Ribbon. USS Monitor was an iron-hulled steam-powered ironclad warship built for the Union Navy (United States Navy) during the American Civil War (1861-1865), the first such ship commissioned by the Navy. 

State branch of a national organization of Union veterans of the Civil War. Preceded in Kansas by the Veteran (Union) Brotherhood. Established in Kansas in 1866. Permanently reorganized in 1880. The organization purported to preserve fraternal bonds among surviving Union veterans, perpetuate the history of the dead, and assist veterans in need and their families. Responsibility over the records and artifacts of the organization was transferred to the Kansas State Historical Society(Topeka) in 1957.

CONDITION: 7(Very Fine): The ribbon shows minor wear, light warter stain on reverse, overall very fine condition.
