ARTIFACT:

This a rare early/pre-WWII USSR Badge for a Member or "Water Rescue" of the Soyuz OSVOD, The Soviet Union Water Rescuing Society, circa 1938 - 1941. The badge is made of enameled bronze,  has its original bronze screwback, and its original numbered tinned steel retaining plate, which has the badge number 39274 stamped into it.

This badge would be the equivalent of one from the US Life Saving Service from an earlier time. Although the backing plate has a high number, this is actually a rare badge, being from the pre-WWII period.

VINTAGE: Circa 1938 - 1941.

SIZE: Approximately 1-5/8" in height x 1-5/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled bronze, bronze screw back, tinned steel retaining plate.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing.

MARKINGS: 39274

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Russian and Soviet Union militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MGEL22 LBGEX10/11/22

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Finet): The badge shows minor to moderate wear, with nice patina.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
