ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1928 hat badge for the Garde d'Haiti, worn by United States Marines stationed in Haiti during this time. Known as the Gendarmerie d'Haiti for the preceding twelve years, in 1928 the force was renamed the Garde d'Haiti. The United States occupied Haiti starting in 1915 to safeguard American business interests on the island and remained there long after the Paris Peace Treaty of 1919. The badge has a great design showing flags, cannons and a palm tree with a single helmet at its peak.

VINTAGE: Circa 1928.

SIZE: Approximately 1-9/16" in height and 1-11/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post, disc backing, stabilization post.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an early US Marine Corps hat badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCJX14 LCIEX7/14 SCIEX10/15

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has only some light wear/tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
