ARTIFACT:
This is a rare and beautiful Imperial German Naval Gold Wound Badge. The Wound Badge is equivalent to a Purple Heart, and the gold version was awarded to enlistees wounded at least five times during enemy interaction or who had suffered total blindness, "loss of manhood", severe brain damage and even death. The badge has an oval border in a chain-link design and shows an anchor just behind two crossed swords.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War I.
SIZE:
Approximately 1-13/16" in height and 1-7/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gold-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical T-style kick pin with C catch.
