ARTIFACT: This is a Rare 1940's Montebello Rangers SGVR San Gabriel Valley Region Badge # 3. San Gabriel (Spanish for "St. Gabriel") is a city located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California.

This gorgeous old badge is from a short-lived mounted group, aka posse, associated with the Montebello California Police Department. Falling in line with the Cowboy & Old West mania sweeping the country in the late 40's and early 1950's, this mounted group took to the part and called themselves Rangers and put on horse related parade displays when not tending to their regular police duties. We can only find mention of the organization from 1949 to 1952, so we have to assume it was short-lived, and we can only find one other badge past sale from the organization, number 24, in far worse condition than the one we have to offer.

VINTAGE: 1940s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-3/8" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt Brass & Blue Chromed Nickeled Brass with Hard Fired Blue enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick type pin with forked locking catch.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES:  This is from a police and law enforcement collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. PAHJV23 LHGEX04/27/23

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent): The badge shows little to minor wear only. Overall, it is in excellent condition.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
