ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1920s or early 1930s United States Coast Guard Officer hat badge marked Vanguard NYC on reverse: this is the only one of its kind that I have seen. The badge is a large eagle perched upon a silver anchor bearing a silver shield.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s-early 1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/2" in height and 2-13/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing, stabilization posts.

MARKINGS: STERLING VANGUARD N.Y.C.
