ARTIFACT:
This is a rare circa 1920s Coventry Eagle (CE) motorcycle "wings" badge. First known as a Victorian era bicycle manufacturer called Hotchkiss, Mayo & Meek, the company changed its name in 1897. They produced the popular "Flying 8" motorcycle model, among others. The badge is beautifully enameled in two shades of blue and has a Birmingham Medal Company maker mark on reverse. This came to us with two period British women's motorcycle race medals (please see link at bottom of page for more information – medals for sale separately).
