ARTIFACT:
This is a rare circa 1920s Boston Police Lieutenant Series #7 badge in the "clamshell" or sunburst radiator" style, with first type numbering on reverse. This badge was replated and had a catch replacement sometime during its use during the 1930s or 1940s. This badge style (Series #7) was used in the Massachusetts capital for just about 40 years, from 1920 until 1959. It is typical to find badges of this series with pin repairs and re-plating done during the period of use. The badge has the Seal of the City of Boston at center and is topped by the Arm of Miles Standish. It is numbered 1871 on reverse.
