ARTIFACT: This is an earlier example of the Order of the Star of Romania, 1st Model (1877) made by Resch. Both civilians and military personnel could be awarded the medal. The medal has a blue enameled cross against a ray design with an eagle at the center. The blue ring encircling the eagle reads IN FIDE SALUS (In faith is the salvation). It has a silver mark on its suspension ring in the shape of a swan. The Resch maker mark is on the bottom of face of the cross.

VINTAGE: Circa late 19th century.

SIZE: Approximately 2-9/16" in height and 1-11/16" in width (without ring).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Suspension ring.

MARKINGS: RESCH on bottom of cross; swan-shaped silver mark on suspension ring.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a foreign militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJX13 LADEX3/13

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The medal shows some light to medium wear and tarnish; there are a few small areas of enamel missing in the blue ring around the eagle.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
