ARTIFACT: This is a numbered early World War II (circa 1939) badge for the Romanian Iron Guard, or Garda de Fier. The Iron Guard was a nationalist political party that was born in 1927 and held anti-communist and anti-Semitic views. It had a short-lived period of integration with the government of Ion Antonescu from September 1940 until it was crushed by the same no longer-sympathetic leader. The shield-shaped badge is in brass with bright yellow, blue and red enameling.

VINTAGE: Circa 1939.

SIZE: Approximately 1-5/16" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin with saddle.

MARKINGS: 1xI 1939 ST LEI 23 207919.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an early WWII Romanian badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEX13 LBBEX4/14 SBBEX6/16

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge has some minor circular abrasions to the enamel and light tarnish on the reverse only.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
