ARTIFACT: Nicely maker marked French Model 1831 Artillery Short Sword by Talaret & Cie in Paris. The ridged brass grip shows the number: "1831" with a line struck through and above the scratched out numbers: "477". On the opposite side, the grip reads: "1113". The pommel shows the number: "31". The blade features a maker's mark that reads: "TALARET & CIE PARIS".

VINTAGE: Circa 1831

SIZE: Approximately 24-3/4" in total length; Grip: 6" x 1-1/2", Pommel: 2" x 7/8"; Guard: 4" x 1/4"; Blade: 18-3/4" x 1-1/2"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, brass

ATTACHMENT: Brass grip, guard, pommel

MARKINGS: "1831", "477", "1113", "31", "TALARET & CIE PARIS"

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The short sword shows moderate wear, the blade shows oxidation and surface patina, overall very fine condition.
