ARTIFACT: Nice WWII United States Army Air Forces Escape and Evasion Miniature Compass. These secret 'North Seeking' magnetic compasses were issued to allies, paratroopers, etc. in the escape and evasion kits. This example is an American made version, with a printed compass card displaying the four directions and a white line to also signify 'North' on the lens. This design continued to be manufactured by Waltham after the war with provisions for either a wrist strap or a lanyard.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII.

SIZE: Approximately 3/4" in diameter x 3/16" in depth.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Brass, magnet, celluloid, brass.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): Compass shows minor to moderate wear, small area of oxidation and appears to be in working condition.
