ARTIFACT:
Nice WWI American Red Cross Service Medal, Award Document & Membership Card issued to Katherine McCloskey of Pennsylvania. The award was given "in recognition of service faithfully performed in behalf of the nation and her men at arms" - "3,294 Hours Service April 1917 to March 1919" along the top a handwritten message reads: "My Dearest Wife - Mrs. K. Black Wm. D. Black" The member card is dated May 14, 1918 and was issued by the South Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross. The service medal is enameled brass, it features a red enamel cross set atop a disc of blue and white that reads: "SERVICE AMERICAN RED CROSS" and is suspended from a blue ribbon with three vertical white stripes.

Award Document 7" in height x 9-3/4" in width; Membership Card 2-1/4" in height x 3 5/8" in width; Service Medal 2" in height x 1-1/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Paper document, cardstock, brass, enamel, ribbon.

CONDITION:
5 (Very Good - Fine): A corner of the membership card is separated, both the document and card show age and storage wear, a piece of cardstock was added to reverse of document for strength, medal shows some wear mostly to ribbon, nearly all the enamel details remain fully intact.
