ARTIFACT:
Nice, "salty" 1939 dated Hitler Youth knife with RZM maker mark 7/27 for Puma. The knife's grip features a red and white enameled brass diamond shape showing a black swastika, the sheath is painted steel with a leather strap belt attachment, and the blade features a maker mark that reads: "RZM M 7/27 1939". "Hitler Youth" was initially an organization formed to groom teenagers as anti-Semites, but during the War the Youths became fair game to restore depleted military manpower.This example was obviously carried into the war.

Approximately 10" (full length with sheath); Knife: 9-1/2" (full length); Grip: 4-1/8" x 7/8"; Pommel: 1-1/8" x 5/8"; Blade: 5-1/2" x 1"; Guard: 2" x 1/2"; Sheath: 5-7/8" x 1-1/4" (sheath only); 9-5/8" (full length with leather strap).
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Steel, enamel, brass, black paint, leather, plated nickel.

Sheath with loop for wear on belt.

CONDITION:
7- (Very Fine-): The knife shows moderate to heavy wear, much of the painted details remain on sheath, the enameled swastika shows heavy oxidation, some of the plated details remain, overall very fine condition.
