ARTIFACT: Nice 1921 – 1922 New York Automobile Bureau Special Inspector Badge. The brass badge shows the state seal in the center with the word: "EXCELSIOR" beneath. Surrounding the center blue enamel that reads: SECRETARY OF STATES OFFICE AUTOMOBILE BUREAU". The badge is topped with an eagle and beneath it reads: "SPECIAL INSPECTOR", "1921 1922" and between the white enameled details showing the date, it displays the number: "2980".

VINTAGE: Circa 1921 – 1922

SIZE: Approximately 2 ¼" x 1 ½"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, enamel

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin with drop in forked locking catch

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a police and law enforcement collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBEX15 LCDEX9/15

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine—Very Fine): The badge shows moderate to heavy surface wear, the reverse pin is slightly askew, some of gilt and enamel details remain intact.
