ARTIFACT:
This is a nice, delicately detailed 1890s United Confederate Veterans reunion badge. Formed in 1889, Union of Confederate Veterans was the Confederate answer to the Union's Grand Army of the Republic. It remained active until 1951. The badge reads SOUVENIR on a bar and the medallion below bears the Confederate flag at center.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1890s.
SIZE:
2-1/2" in height and 1-5/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gold-plated brass with some painted areas.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal safety-style pin and suspension ring.
MARKINGS:
SCHWAAB (then perhaps a worn-away word) MILWAUKEE.

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has a beautiful luster but a few small spots of the paint has worn away.
