ARTIFACT:
This is a circa World War I United States Air Service overseas enlisted pilot uniform jacket, shirt, pants and hat with insignia named to P. Laguardia. The jacket has two collar insignia, some stripes, including a staff sergeant rank stripes, sewn onto the sleeve and an enlisted pilot badge or "wing". The shirt is a pull-over style in olive drab wool flannel with reinforced elbows. The pants are breeches with a button fly that lace up at the ends. The hat has a propeller insignia in very nice condition.

Circa World War I.
SIZE:
Jacket: approximately 18" (armpit to armpit), 24" from shoulder seam to end of cuff, 17-/12" across back shoulder to shoulder and about 27-3/4" from base of collar to hem. Shirt: approximately 20-1/2" (armpit to armpit), 22-1/2" from shoulder seam to end of cuff, 17-1/2" across back from shoulder to shoulder and about 30-1/2" from base of collar to hem. Pants: approximately 15" across waist, 26-1/2" inseam. Hat: 11-1/2" in length (no size tag), insignia: 1-3/8" in width and 5/8" in height.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Jacket: twill with cloth lining, plated brass buttons; wing: wool embroidered in cotton/silk threads; stripes: felt on wool, felt on twill with cotton/silk embroidery, twill with embroidery tape; collar insignia: plated brass; shirt: wool flannel, resin buttons; pants: twill, resin buttons, cotton laces, metal eyelets; cap: wool, silk lining; cap insignia: plated brass.

Jacket: buttons, hook and eye closure at neck and at end of button placket, buttons on pockets, shirt: resin buttons at neck placket and cuffs; pants: button fly, laces and eyelets at cuffs; cap insignia: horizontal pin with C catch.
MARKINGS:
Jacket: 180M 11-17 BETTER CLASS TAILORING DATE JUNE 24 1918 ORDERED BY MFR 45 FOR MR. P. LAGUARDIA on label on underside of collar; shirt: tag inside that is unreadable; pants: U.S.A. on buttons, 7-32x23 97438 and other hard to read numbers in lining.

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The items overall are in excellent condition. Pants have some minor spots of discoloration on reverse of left leg. Hat is in nice condition with two very small moth bites and some discoloration in the lining only. Hat insignia is very nice shape with some minor oxidation on the reverse only.
