ARTIFACT: This is a rare 1920s United States Army marksman badge for Pistol-D by J.R. Gaunt of England. Pistol-D (D is for dismounted) is a qualification for marksmen showing competency in the operation of a pistol along with demonstrated accuracy and safety. The badge is a wreathed Knight's Cross with a bull's-eye at its center and a bar hanging below reading PISTOL-D.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-13/16" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, brass pin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with C catch; chain links and suspension loops to bar.

MARKINGS: J.R. GAUNT & SON NEW YORK and MADE IN ENGLAND (listed twice).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAX09 LFEX2/11

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge shows moderate wear and tarnish.
